Horizon 2030

We want to protect more than 1 million bees and cultivate our lands using farming models that are favourable to them.

OUR COMMITMENT

For over 9,000 years bees have symbolised natural fertility and agricultural growth. Unfortunately today they are becoming increasingly at risk of extinction, due to their extreme sensitivity to chemical pollution.

Thanks to special initiatives and commercial competitions that have seen the involvement of our products in the protection of bees since 2018, we have amply exceeded our 2030 target by already protecting more than 1 million. This is why we have decided to take our commitment one step further and focus on scientific research. Together with LifeGate and the University of Bologna, we will study the lives of bees in the olive groves of Bosco Monini, located in Umbria, Puglia and Tuscany, to assess the positive impact in terms of biodiversity, by installing biomonitored hives and using targeted analysis to ascertain the presence of favourable conditions.

Protecting and increasing biodiversity in the lands of Bosco Monini is our major aim, and we will mobilise our finest resources to spearhead it.

Remote monitoring devices: technology at the service of bees

In order to preserve the health of their bees and optimise production, increasing numbers of beekeepers are considering the option of using this technology, which enables them to constantly receive information online on the conditions of hives, so that they can promptly intervene as soon as any problems arise. These instruments can measure hive weight for example, useful in calculating an estimate of incoming nectar and any loss of bees following swarming or poisoning events. Internal hive temperature can also be measured, which is useful for estimating bee colony size and understanding whether there is sufficient egg production, or to limit the risk of mass death of bees when hives are moved.
